As a first-generation immigrant, Rend is fueled by a strong work ethic and a drive to maximize life's potential. She started her career in the research lab setting and quickly discovered that she had a passion for clinical research. Rend started her clinical career at Pfizer while she was going to graduate school in Epidemiology. After completing her graduate education, she accepted a fellowship at the CDC where she was involved in several global health programs and initiatives.
Rend moved into the Contract Research Organization arena afterwards where she spent the next 18 years. She successfully oversaw numerous phase I-III clinical trials in multiple therapeutic areas including cardiovascular, infectious disease, diabetes, and primarily hematology and oncology. Her leadership skills in clinical and project management are highly regarded, and she has a proven track record of successfully managing teams, resources, budgets, and timelines to achieve project objectives and deliver high-quality outcomes.
Through Rend's work experience, she discovered her knack for problem solving, as well as a genuine love for developing and coaching others. She decided to start Foresight Business Consulting when she realized that she could help other businesses while using her skills in a way she enjoyed. Her impact resonates far beyond the surface, as she propels others towards personal and professional growth with a rare combination of grit and compassion.
Rend holds a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree in Epidemiology from SDSU and a Bachelor of Science degree in Physiology and Neuroscience from UCSD.
She, along with her husband, Blake, climbed the impressive stone steps to the original Cape Point Lighthouse. At the top they learned that the first lighthouse in the area on Cape Point Peak was commissioned in 1860. The lighthouse was constructed on a rocky promontory and stood 249 meters (816 ft) above sea level. The white flashing light of 2000 candlepower could be seen by ships up to 67 Km (41 miles) away. However, it was discovered that fog and low clouds often obscured the light, reducing its effectiveness. After the wreck of Portuguese liner Lusitania in 1911, it was decided to erect the present light house 87m (285 ft) above sea level. The main purpose of a lighthouse is to serve as a navigational aid for ships and boats, especially during the night or in adverse weather conditions. The light emitted by the lighthouse acts as a visual beacon, helping mariners to identify their position, avoid hazards, and navigate safely along coastlines or through channels.
While most consulting firms offer a high-level perspective, such viewpoints often lack practical applicability. True foresight, however, entails scrutinizing situations from diverse altitudes and angles. This guarantees that the solutions presented are not only comprehensive but also deeply rooted in real-world effectiveness. Having foresight in business means having the ability to anticipate and predict future trends, events, and outcomes relevant to your industry or business environment. It involves being able to envision potential opportunities and challenges that may arise down the line and taking proactive measures to adapt and position your business accordingly.
Like a lighthouse, Foresight is crucial for strategic planning, decision-making, and staying ahead in a rapidly changing marketplace. It enables you to seize opportunities, navigate challenges, and position your business for long-term success.
